While speaking at the right wing CPAC convention on Aug. 12, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick made the false claim that God wrote the U.S. Constitution, notes Right Wing Watch:
We were a nation founded upon not the words of our founders, but the words of God because He wrote the Constitution. He empowered them.
