Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind) claimed that the criminal Jan. 6 insurrectionists where not actually insurrectionists because they failed while committing their crime:
I know there’s been a lot of discussions about Jan. 6. I been in the [House] chamber on Jan. 6. I’ll tell you something, they call this insurrection. If the people who showed up wanted to do that, they would have succeeded.
The Associated Press reports there have been hundreds of criminal convictions:
More than 1,230 people have been charged with federal crimes in the riot, ranging from misdemeanor offenses like trespassing to felonies like assaulting police officers and seditious conspiracy.
