some people seem to think I’m making this up, so here is video footage from session yesterday where Republican State Rep Jess Edwards advocated for chile marriage and discussed minors as being of “ripe and fertile age” pic.twitter.com/Z5UEubgcbR

Republican state Rep. Jess Edwards defended child marriage in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and opposed a new law making the state minimum marriage age 18. He claimed that denying child marriage would encourage “ripe and fertile” 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds to have abortions instead of marrying and having a family, notes the New Hampshire Bulletin.
State Rep. Wendy Thomas responded to this twisted logic on Twitter:
This is the frickin' mentality that we have to deal with in New Hampshire. Children (girls) should be allowed to get married because they are "ripe and fertile."
