A new book by two journalists of The Washington Post, “Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History,” says former President Donald Trump considered sending infected American tourists to the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the U.S. also holds terrorism suspects in the infamous military prison in February 2020:
Don’t we have an island we own? What about Guantanamo?
Trump’s aides were reportedly shocked by his highly illegal suggestion in the Situation Room.
Trump also reportedly called for less testing of the coronavirus during a March 2020 phone call to then-Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar:
Testing is killing me! I’m going to lose the election because of testing.
