Tennessee Republicans have written a bill, the Human Life Protection Act, that would allow the death penalty for women who have abortions, reports The Tennessean.
House Bill 570/Senate Bill 738 bans all abortions from fertilization, without exceptions for rape or incest, and is supported by the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest evangelical denomination. The state banned abortions after 20 weeks eight years ago, reported WJHL.
