Christian pro-life leader Kristan Hawkins, who supports 34-time felon and adjudicated rapist Donald Trump, went on X to try to smear California Gov. Gavin Newsom who has been politically targeted by Trump and his Justice Department.
Hawkins falsely claimed on the social media site X that Newsom “wants you focused on who is asking the questions, not the questions themselves.”
There’s no evidence to back up that claim.
Hawkins then wrote: “Millions in donor money, politically connected nonprofits, financial relationships that deserve scrutiny… this is the trail Gavin Newsom is leaving behind. nIf there’s nothing to hide, stop attacking the investigators and start providing answers!”
Hawkins posted an article from the California Post which mentioned Newsom’s wife has founded several nonprofits (as Hawkins has done herself). The California Post added: “That does not implicate Newsom or his wife… Those facts do not establish wrongdoing…. None of that proves corruption… Questions are not convictions.”
