Criminal charges were dropped against Eric Popper who opened fire at another car during a wild road rage incident on I-95 near Miami, Florida, in June 2021.
Popper’s own video shows him reaching for his gun, and beginning to point the gun to the right before the car behind him passes on the right; Popper then fires repeatedly.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the other driver then tossed a water bottle toward Popper’s Toyota Venza, but Popper claims the other driver fired at him first.
Robert Gershman, the attorney representing Popper, told WPLG that Popper was freed per Florida’s Stand Your Ground law– which also freed George Zimmerman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin in 2012.
