Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem told Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union” his Dana Bash that she would not allow a ten-year-old girl, who was raped in Ohio, to get an abortion in her state, which does not have an exception for rape victims.
What I would say is I don’t believe a tragic situation should be perpetuated by another tragedy.
Noem consistently made references to her own family, which had nothing to do with raped girl’s situation, and falsely claimed “nobody’s talking about the pervert, horrible and deranged individual that raped a 10 year old. What are we doing about that?”
In June, Noem failed to defend her state’s lack of programs for women in wake of the overturn of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The ten-year-old girl was eventually taken to Indiana for health care, notes the Indianapolis Star.
