During a congressional hearing, Sec. of Agriculture Brooke Rollins tried to defend kicking millions of Americans of food stamps because of fraud that she could not prove. Rollins also falsely claimed millions were choosing to quit food stamps because they are doing so much better financially while inflation skyrockets.
Rollins disputed the SNAP’s official fraud rate, claiming states were self-reporting numbers the administration couldn’t verify. Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) read the USDA’s own data back to her:

BROWN: The reality is 4.5 million people were kicked off SNAP to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy through HR1. Families and children are not leaving the SNAP program because they are doing better.
