Several Republicans are avoiding the event including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, notes The New York Times.
