‘Pro-Life’ Evangelist Franklin Graham Defends Ex-Cop Kim Potter Who Killed Black Man, Demands Support for Police Who Killed 900 Americans in 2021

“Pro-life” evangelical leader Franklin Graham offered support on Twitter for ex-cop Kim Potter who was found guilty of manslaughter for killing a Black man, Daunte Wright. Potter fired a gun, instead of her Tazer, at Wright in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Graham noted that Potter was “devastated,” and lamented she was convicted of manslaughter (accidental killing).

When a wanted man resisted arrest in MN, Officer Kim Potter thought she had her taser in hand, but it was her pistol. She fired a single shot that took his life. She realized her tragic mistake & was devastated, yet she’s been found guilty of manslaughter. https://t.co/mJoFCHi6aA

Graham also defended police officers who kill people because they “aren’t perfect” and “make mistakes,” and told people to stand with these cops.

Law enforcement officers aren’t perfect. Human beings make mistakes. But this doesn’t change the fact that we need to stand with those who risk their lives every day. They work under extreme pressure and make split-second, life-and-death decisions.

The Washington Post reports that U.S. police killed 900 people in 2021, far outpacing any other developed nation.
