“The View” co-host Meghan McCain attacked black U.S. Olympian Gwen Berry for protesting “internationally” because Berry turned away from the American flag and draped a t-shirt that said “Activist Athlete” over her head during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” as she stood on the podium at the U.S. Track & Field trials in Oregon, reports The Daily Beast.
McCain went on to rant that Putin is using Black Lives Matter — a non-violent movement against police abuse — as a weapon against the U.S., and that Berry would also be used by Putin, which somehow creates a “national security risk”:
If anyone just saw Vladimir Putin’s recent speech when he met with President Biden, he’s using the propaganda that America is an irredeemable craphole against us… We’re having our enemies and propaganda dictators using our own propaganda against us, which in turn, turns into a national security risk... For some reason, my relationship with the flag isn’t allowed. My love of the American flag, my love of the national anthem!
McCain went on to falsely claim that Oregon is a “foreign country” to attack Berry.
Meghan McCain: “For some of us, I will die for this! I will die on this hill that it is not appropriate or patriotic to go to a foreign country where you are supposed to represent America and act like it’s just about you! It’s not about you it’s about all of us!” pic.twitter.com/0f3hdyvnhN

Meanwhile, Berry mocked Fox News and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) for attacking her with the same lines McCain used.
