Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) was busted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for using a “fabricated image” during the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden on Sept. 28.
Rep. Cortez showed how Rep. Donalds used a screenshot of a text message that had actually been edited together out of context. While his ruse was being exposed, Rep. Donalds sat and shook his head while other Republican members reportedly left the room. Rep. Donalds has a history of making false claims.
Rep. Cortez explained to MSNBC host Chris Hayes how the hearing appeared to be fixed:
I think frankly the GOP knew this is cooked and done from the beginning…. I’m not sure why they decided to embarrass themselves today. I don’t know what was quite going through their mind.
