Officer John Haubert resigned from the Aurora Police Department in Colorado after body cam video showed him allegedly strangling a suspect for 39 seconds and pistol-whipping the suspect with a handgun on July 23, reports KDVR.
Haubert has been charged with Attempted First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Felony Menacing, Official Oppression, and 1st Degree Official Misconduct.
The incident reportedly happened over trespassing by a suspect. Officer Francine Martinez was charged with Duty to Intervene and Duty to Report Use of Force by Peace Officer.
