Ralph Paul Yarl, 16, was shot after he rang the wrong doorbell in Kansas City, Missouri, by an 80-year-old white man, reports NBC News. The man, who shot Yarl in the head and arm, was released by police, who could not hold him more than 24 hours without charging him.
Yarl’s aunt, Faith Spoonmore, attended a demonstration to protest the lack of an arrest on April 16, notes KSHB:
My nephew is alive and he is healing. It is not the story that that individual intended for us to tell. We are telling a story that is different from the stories that you normally hear,
