Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake was furious at Fox News host Brett Baer after he brought up her past ties to a drag queen, including pictures, as she has recently attacked drag queens as dangerous to children.
The Washington Post reports that drag queen Richard Stevens brought up his past with Lake:
I’ve performed for Kari’s birthday, I’ve performed in her home (with children present,) and I’ve performed for her at some of the seediest bars in Phoenix,” Stevens wrote on Facebook.
Lake slammed Baer for mentioning The Washington Post report:
I’m really shocked. I’m actually appalled that Fox News would take a defamatory story like that, and we are pursuing legal action against this Drag Queen. I’m appalled that you would bring that up.
The Arizona Mirror has noted Lake’s anti-science positions and false claims of fraud in the 2020 election:
Lake rails against vaccine mandates, face mask requirements and other COVID-19 mitigation measures, and speaks at “medical freedom” rallies... And she’s made demands for “election integrity” a central theme of her campaign, promoting baseless claims that the 2020 election was marred by fraud and rigged against Trump…
She has urged Arizona State University students to defy a face mask mandate and said it’s “child abuse” to make children wear masks. When health care officials and pharmaceutical companies began advocating for a third booster shot for COVID vaccines, she tweeted, “The COVID vaccine is a nightmare that will NEVER stop.”
