Anti-vaxxers on social media are spreading the false claim that Ivermectin can somehow cure Hantavirus, a rare, rodent-borne illness that usually spreads when people inhale contaminated residue of rodent droppings. Hantavirus recently made the news when there was an outbreak on a cruise ship (video below).
“There is no specific treatment or cure, but early medical attention can increase the chance of survival,” notes the Associated Press. However, that has not stopped anti-vaxxers from spreading false claims.
