The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 against a group of “pro-life” Republican governors and the Trump administration who tried to destroy Obamacare and end health care coverage for 31 million Americans.
The defeat of the “pro-life’ Republicans means Americans will still have protections for people with pre-existing health conditions, many no-cost preventive services, the expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor and a limit on out-of-pocket payments, reports The Associated Press.
Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott and other “pro-life” Republicans wanted the landmark health care law gutted because the penalty that people had to pay for not having insurance was reduced to zero by Congress in 2017.
