U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on X that journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort had been arrested along with two other people “in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.”
Don Lemon and Georgia Fort actually covered an anti-ICE protest at the church as journalists, which is protected free speech under the 1st Amendment.
Bondi refused to say in her post or in a following video what the charges are, but CNN notes:
Lemon’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, told CNN that he is being charged with two federal crimes: conspiring to violate someone’s constitutional rights and violating the FACE Act, which prohibits the use of force or threats to intentionally interfere with someone expressing their First Amendment right to practice religion.
